For
several years, people who heard me speak have commented that they
would like to have access to some of the stories and ideas that
I use when lecturing, counseling, or teaching about experiences
in daily life. While I felt complimented by their statements, it
took a while to realize that this was more than just an occasional
expression by a few people. As the requests continued, I began to
sense that while I do not claim to have any secrets or formulas
to make life easy, maybe what I had done was to put some old ideas
together in new ways that could help people through difficult times.
As I looked
for ways to do what many had asked for, I soon knew that the task
was too big for me alone. Along the way, I found people with unique
skills to bring to fulfillment what was taking shape in my mind.
A team began to emerge with special talents. A person with a degree
in marketing, a person with creative skills in building web pages,
a highly experienced video production company, a talented host for
the video, and a person with banking experience all crossed my path
and understood the mission I was undertaking. Along with their understanding
and professional expertise, this team also began to say what I had
heard before. This material needs to be available to more people.
Our first venture
was producing the video, The Forest Will
Find You, to help people experiencing grief due to losing
someone in death. In thinking of ways to market this video that
would also be suitable to share new productions over time, we decided
that a company should be formed. I knew that more than a flashy
or glamorous title, we needed a name that would convey an idea of
who we are and what we do. I knew that we wanted to offer resources
that help people cope with life, not just products. Years of experience
in helping people who were going through difficult times had taught
me that sometimes people can face their problem better if they look
at it differently. This lead to the concept of a person's vantage
point about life. Thus, the name Vantage Point Resources
seemed to express what we hoped to provide. We hope the resources
you find here will help you to find a new vantage point in your
life.
